What is Shot blasting?
Shot blasting is a resurfacing process used to remove debris and irregularities from metal, and other industrial surfaces
Shot blasting involves the deployment of a high-quality abrasive that is expelled against the material at force. These tiny elements strip or abrade the top layer of the material, removing imperfections, rust and cosmetic damage, or dirt – fully preparing it for use or follow-on treatments.
Where is it used?
Shot blasting is commonly used for the cleaning of iron, steel, non-cast parts, forgings, etc.
Shot blasting is used in almost every industry that uses metal, including aerospace, automotive, construction, foundry, renewable, shipbuilding, rail, and many other engineering industries.
How soon after shot blasting do we need to paint?
The generally accepted industry standard is that coating takes place no more than 4 hours after completing the blasting process.
But time only plays a part in that. Surface and environmental conditions should also be considered. How quickly your paint is irrelevant if the conditions for coating are not adequate.
